GD T.O.P. High High CD lyrics & Romanizations up!

Hey y'all! Big news: I've officially completed the High High CD Korean and Romanization lyrics over at www.reallykpop.com

This means it's time for the lengthy task of translating. I'm hoping to get at least the Intro and High High up by tomorrow. Now, I know I know, you can find the lyrics anywhere else, but I do this to improve my Korean in the hope that one days I can do a whole album of translations in a day or two, but for now, it's slow. Anyways, I'd really appreciate if you'd check out my hard work so far and check back at www.reallykpop.com from time to time for lyrics references.

So you know, I haven't peeked at my lyrics translations yet. I saw one posted on bigbangupdates, which was translated from Chinese, and I saw that even the Korean lyrics were incorrect, which I imagine might have some impact on the reliability of translations. What I shoot for is not speed of translation, but for translation accuracy and the best English translation I can create. Often i see translations that sound extremely awkward in English, and I'd like to do my best to avoid that on my site.

I just wanna get better at Korean, and this is just one of many ways for me to practice.

xoxo
A

p.s. I'm also thinking of uploading videos with English translations as I do them. It will slow down the overall pace of translation (because I have to insert translations and create a video for each song) but I think it'd be fun and a good way to get www.reallykpop.com out there.

More K-Pop

So this guy that I am working with at summer camp said to me, "I read your blog and almost every other post is about k-pop." Well, he's not entirely correct. I would guess that it's probably more often than every other these days (although the k-pop blogging has always been so consistent). What can I say, I really really like the music. Plus, I've been translating a lot these days, and I find it's really helping to reinforce the grammar rules that I've learned in other classes. I'm beginning to get a grasp on using verbs as adjectives and creating conditional statements in Korean, two things which were elusive bits of knowledge.

Anyways, I'll use this post to serve as an update on my other site, www.reallykpop.com. This site, for those who don't already know (or haven't yet read my plugs on about a zillion other sites), is my personal lyrics site. By personal I just mean that everything has been done by the two hands that are typing this very blog post. I edited the pictures, I copied every bit of 한글(korean) from the pages of the album jackets of the cds which I personally own. I then romanized every letter of hangeul as a pronunciation guide for those who perhaps cannot read Korean. Then, I meticulously translated the lyrics using my own brain, several translators and English-Korean dictionaries, plus various other translations of songs (when available).

I just finished translating the whole 2PM mini-album Don't Stop Can't Stop. This would be cool, but it's only 4 songs, and it took me forever because I took a two and a half week break from www.reallykpop.com altogether. I just needed a break from translating.

Anyways, while translating this album, I discovered the song 목숨을 건다 which translates to I'm risking my life (목 is neck or throat, and 숨 is breath, but when together it means the breath of life, or just life, which I think is fucking awesome). That song is the most beautiful song ever in the whole fucking world. I love love love love love it. When I translated the lyrics I was like omg, Im in love with 2PM.

Here is the song for your listening pleasure:

Hiatus. Apartment. Music.

So, my other site, www.reallykpop.com has been on a hiatus. Why? Well, I sort of discovered after translating the lyrics to Taeyang's Solar album, that I don't really care about anyone else except Taeyang. But, I will try to get back into it soon. It's just really time-consuming and less fun than I had hoped.

Also, I'm considering (sort-of) changing the lay-out of my apartment. I just feel like I'm not using the space in my apartment well, so I'm gonna try to change that. But, I don't know when I'll actually do that. Probably never, if I'm being honest with myself.

Lastly, oh. my. god. Sungha Jung is like my new favorite Korean person. Seriously. He's a fingerstyle guitarist who is pretty popular in Korea and on YouTube (#1 subscribed youtube channel in Korea, #29 most subscribed youtube musician worldwide). Anyways, he's 14 Korean age (will turn 14 this year by American standards), and is freaking awesome. He's been playing since he was maybe 9. On his channel, you can watch all of his videos. If you start from his first video you can basically watch him get older before your very eyes. He's adorably cute, and I hope that he becomes super famous. Below is his newest youtube video, which is him playing Michael Jackson's Don't Stop Till You Get Enough. SO EFFING GOOD.

It's been real

So it's crazy that my semester is finally almost over. I have four more days of classes, which consist of my students and I watching the first 40 minutes of either Princess Diaries 2 or Monsters, Inc. a total of 11 times (this doesn't include the 7 times I've already watched it yesterday and today).

After school I saw an archery competition and some boys from a different school freaked out when they saw me.

Yesterday at school I got a package from home. In it was some clothing I ordered from the gap (cropped khakis and a navy slub dress), the newest Rooney cd (which was signed since I pre-ordered it!), plus some other goodies from the parents such as a hello kitty washcloth and Florida Kitty magnet.

Tomorrow I'm going to see Shrek Forever with three students. I'm really excited. We were gonna see it in 4D, but it was sold out, so we're just gonna watch it in regular old 3D. This is good though because 4D is only in Seoul and it's 5000 won more.

Also, I sort of maybe kind of have a date tomorrow. eep.

Oh, and I'm updating www.reallykpop.weebly.com as we speak. New 2PM lyrics up by Sunday evening! Plus, I'm probably registering my own domain later this weekend. I got a coupon from weebly for 33% off domain registration, I figure that's as good a deal as any. ^_^ So yeah, that's that.
