Today is an unfortunate day. It's New Year's Eve and my plans with my boyfriend got scraped because he has to go to church with his parents and I can't even come to help him endure the torture (it's a long, messy story... under normal circumstances, he'd have invited me). At least I've made alternate plans with a couple girlfriends here. Otherwise I'd be totally devastated and alone tonight.
Then, after I got to work this morning, an English teacher comes into my office asking for another English teacher with whom I share my office. Unfortunately, she's not in yet. Teacher leaves, then returns to inform me that the vice principal wants me in the main office with the other teachers so as to avoid using the heater unnecessarily. This means I'm now stuck on a computer running only internet explore version 5 or something and so I can't comment on youtube videos or watch hulu (no vpn), I can't really do any serious work because it's weird sitting at some other teacher's desk, nor can I sleep without feeling really guilty or leave early (which I had planned on doing almost every day... only about 15-30 minutes early, which I make up for by always arriving some 15-20 minutes early every single other day of the year). Plus, I can't use facebook chat due to the old verion of ie. And I can't download the new version of ie (I think I can't download anything) and I'm super depressed.
The only good thing that happened today is that my principal and a bunch of other administrators and teachers all agreed that they really love me and that they want me to work at my school forever. Unfortunately, I'm planning on going to Seoul to study Korean for somewhere between four and eight months next year. Also, I may or may not be going home for a few months at the end of 2011.
Oh, Happy New Year. I hope your NYE sucks at least a little less than mine... :-/

A decade in 7 minutes.
I know it's hardly the new year anymore (unless you are on the lunar cycle, in which case I'm right on time), but I just saw this for the first time and thought it was pretty interesting. I don't think I realized how much happened between 2000 & 2010. Also, I suddenly realized, this decade represents my most formative years. I am not a 90s baby, I'm a y2k baby.

A lot has been going on. But I'm sick and so I don't really wanna write about it.
Thomas came and left.
I had two days of winter camp. Next week, new winter camp with my favorite students at my school. I hope it doesn't suck. I haven't planned anywhere near enough. I just want everything to come together with no work.
Listening to a fuckton of hip hop.
I fell in the snow the other day in Gangnam. I think I hurt my knee, but not that bad.
I found out things that I probably shouldn't have. Said things today I shouldn't have.
I took a 40 minute nap at work after eating. It was awesome.
New Years Resolutions:
1. Lose 10-15 pounds. This is less an aesthetic goal than a well-being goal. I don't really care about being thinner (which isn't to say I wouldn't mind being thinner) but I really wanna get toned again. I want to drop some of the weight I've picked up since graduating. Part of this goal is going to the gym and forcing myself to run. Even in cold and snow. Seriously, I need to grow a pair and just do it.
2. Find someone to throw with at least once or twice/week.
3. Quit thinking that the only way I can be happy is via intimacy with men.
4. Cook at home at least two or three meals per week. Really cook. No more grilled cheese, and less eating out. As it stands, I eat out at least 5 times per week, usually more.
5. Lesson plan more in advance.
These are vague and most of them have no planned means for following through, but seriously. I have got to get my shit together. I'm in Korea and I'm spending an offensive amount of money every week, and I'm saving virtually nothing.
xoxo bitches,

Happy New Year
As the title indicates, here's to hoping everyone rings in the new year joyfully and safely! Went to Seoul to see the bell-ringing ceremony near city hall. It was interesting. There were a ton of people packed around this little area with a big huge bell. There was a lot of talking, but it was all in Korean, which made it a touch anticlimactic for me, but we counted down (IN KOREAN!!!) and rang in the happy new year, literally, with 33 tolls of the bell. As soon as we said il (one), everyone started setting off fireworks (roman candles mostly) into the sky, and shouting happy new year! Then, it was a mass exodus. It was interesting to see how quickly everyone cleared out. I've never been in times square at NYE, but I can't imagine such efficiency happens in the departure of people there. Anyways, after the bell rang, and people were clearing out, dozens of Korean people wanted to take pictures with me and my friends, who are all relatively good looking foreigners.
Went to Norae-bang in Hongdae.
Thomas had Japanese food on the first night he was here. Hooray.
Today: 63 building, idk what else.
I got a rose from a guy!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I went to LotteWorld. It was awesome. I don't know what else to tell you. It snowed on Christmas, and it's snowing now. I love the snow so much. I actually giggled like a small child when I saw it was snowing on Christmas. It only snowed for a little while (maybe 45 minutes) and it barely stuck, but it was still wonderful.
Today I'm cleaning my apartment and figuring out some new years resolutions. I will let you know what I come up with.
